A Viera High School student-athlete is being remembered for his talent, character, and the lasting impact he made on his community following a tragic crash in Brevard County.
Brian Moss, a Viera High School student and varsity football player, died early Christmas Eve after a car accident in Mims, according to statements shared by his team and youth football organization. His passing has sent shockwaves through the Viera community and beyond.
The Suntree Viera Youth Football League, where Moss, 16, once played, shared a heartfelt message honoring his life and legacy. “Our hearts are broken today as we mourn the loss of Brian Moss — a talented young athlete who once wore our Hawks jersey and was currently shining on Viera High School’s Varsity team,” the organization said. “Brian wasn’t just an incredible player; he was a beloved part of our community.”
They added that his passion for football and his bright spirit left a lasting impression on teammates, coaches, and friends. The league extended its deepest condolences to the Moss family, noting that Brian’s energy and love for the game will always be remembered. 
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just after 6 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and State Road 46 in Mims. The severity of the incident forced the closure of all northbound lanes of U.S. 1 for nearly two hours. The roadway reopened around 8 a.m. Troopers confirmed that multiple people were injured in the crash.
As the community grieves, tributes have continued to pour in for Moss, reflecting not only his athletic ability but also the kind of teammate and person he was. Friends, classmates, and supporters are remembering him as someone who uplifted those around him and represented his school with pride. was supposed to graduate in 2029.
